The weekend isn’t really over, but I probably wont be posting later tonight. We spent the weekend up north with my folks and tonight we’re headed to DH’s family BBQ. I took four things with me up north to work on and believe me, four was not that many. My “What to Knit” list was much longer than my “What to Pack” list. I cut it down to four, and I only worked on two, but I’ve gotten some progress done lately anyway.
I’m almost at 24″ on Lace Ribbons and nearing the end of the first ball of yarn. I love this pattern. I think this might become one of my staples. The Kittyville hat is my only staple right now, I have the entire pattern memorized. In fact, I’ve got a teal one on the needles right now. I haven’t gotten very far though, I’ve been rather distracted by socks. Its a nice project to take to the movies, so I kind of reserve it for that. I won’t need it until October anyways. Now I need to find a matching yarn so I can make a Lace Ribbons to go with it!
DH finally picked out a pattern and yarn for a beanie. Halfdome and Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. He said his only requirement for yarn was “If you can rub it against a baby I’ll wear it on my head.” I had planned on taking him to the LYS and rubbing yarn on him but he picked this pattern and it just happened to use Debbie Bliss, which I had several rogue balls of at home. He liked it and thus the Babe Beanie was born. Its knit on size 3 needles so its super thick and super soft. I almost want one! I have so many random balls that I bet I could get away with only buying the main color. Its knit with a thin band of a counter color at the bottom. I dare say I used less than 10 yards for it. I plan on using whatever is left over from his to knit him a backup beanie so when I inevitabley shrink or destroy the first one I can give him another to replace it.
Since I mucked up the gauge on Hedera I decided to do a new gauge swatch with the hand dyed yarn I made a few weeks ago. I thought I would just adjust my stitches to fit the gauge since I wanted to switch yarn and I didn’t want to wait for the new needles to arrive in the mail. Well… I just happened to have the Froot Loops pattern and it just happened to be spot on with the gauge swatch I had just knit. So… I did what any self respecting Knitter would do and I cast on another pair of socks. I couldn’t help it, the candy yarn wanted to become the Froot Loops socks! In a way its kind of like fate. So I cast those on and took it up north with me. Two inches in I realized I forgot to do the ribbing… oops.
