In one of my college art classes we were assigned a project to create a logo, package and instructions for an object. The objects ranged from a snowboard to an ice cream scoop to a digital watch and even a drill. I brought in knitting needles, thinking that was rather clever of me. My instructions would be ‘How to Knit!’ Yet as the project wore on I realized there was more to knitting than just the knit and purl stitches. I went rather crazy and made an entire book on how to knit.
I had a brief fleeting thought that I could put this book on the internet for people to learn knitting. But after the project was over I forgot all about it.
Now I’m redesigning the book into an easy to print PDF pattern for someone to use while teaching a free workshop along with adding it to Ravelry. So far I’ve only got the knit and purl stitches reformatted for printing. I’ll work on the rest, but much of it needs to be rewritten as well. The important bits are done, so I’ve made it available as JPGs for the time being. When its all done I will make it one big fat PDF for people to use. Proofreading is very welcome, so please let me know if something is grossly misspelled!
For now, enjoy! Remember this thing is FREE, I’m not asking for anything in return except that you teach someone to knit with it. If you would like to donate any amount to cover the printing and labor costs there is a button at the end of this post. If you want to use this to teach a non-profit class please contact me.
